Holiday Events in Long Beach

Experience 19th century Christmas traditions while learning about Long Beach's local history at Rancho Los Cerritos' "Christmas Open House." Guests may explore the adobe home, decorated for the season, and discover 19th century Mexican and American holiday traditions. Children can participate in crafts and activities from the California frontier, and will be able to take home their own hand-made decorations. Pinata breaking, bi-lingual storytelling and a visit from Santa will certainly make this a memorable event! Free refreshments and live music will be provided.

Christmas Candlelight Tours: Step back to December 23, 1878 as a costumed docent guides guests through the adobe house at Rancho Los Cerritos by lamplight where they can compare today's traditions with yesterday's by learning about 19th century holiday festivities and social attractions, all the while sampling daily life, economic viewpoints and the changing landscape of the Los Angeles region. Don't miss a chance to experience this magical event! Tours begin every few minutes between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale November 1, 2007. Cost includes light refreshments and music. Space is limited and reservations are required.

Enjoy a tempting buffet and dancing in front of the three-story Blue Cavern exhibit in the Great Hall of the Aquarium of the Pacific. Long Beach Symphony Orchestra: The holiday season comes alive with Christmas carols, stories, costumed characters, singers, and beautiful dancers. It’s a very special time that will surely warm every heart. The Holiday Celebration is part of the Symphony POPS! series and is performed at the beautiful Terrace Theater.
