Disney Travel Tips: What to Know Before You Go

Posted on August 31, 2009

It is hard to imagine a more exciting, magical, and eagerly anticipated vacation than a Disney theme park adventure.

And because the prospect of the trip is so exciting, the planning process can be half the fun. Here is how to get started planning the trip of a lifetime, for a lot less than you might think.

Order Your Free Disney DVD

One of the first things you will want to do is take advantage of the free Disney Parks Vacation Planning DVD. This official Disney DVD takes you on a complete tour of both resorts. Go inside the parks and get an overview of the Disney complexes in both Florida and Southern California. Preview the water and roller coaster rides and get tips on where to go and what to do. The DVD also features planning guides, information on affordable places to stay, things to do, and upcoming special events. You can order it on the official Disney Parks website. (Simply do a Google search for "Free Disney Vacation Planning DVD.")

Hotel Deals

The second thing on your list will be to find the best Disneyland and Disneyworld hotel deals.

Keep in mind that you will pay lower prices on both lodging and park tickets if you book your trip during the off season, which runs from October through April.

Disney resorts have a number of on site hotels, which bring lots of advantages, including discounted ticket prices and, of course, convenience. But the experience of staying in a resort hotel comes with a price: as much as triple the cost of other hotels.

If cost is the foremost consideration in planning your Disney vacation, begin an online search for hotels near the resort instead. Many of these neighboring hotels offer comfortable, clean lodging and may provide a complimentary shuttle service to the resort.

Accommodations range from value priced to deluxe, with amenities to match. Make a list of the features that are most important to you and refer to them when deciding on a hotel. If you do not mind parking your car and walking instead of using the valet, or if you do not mind limited room service, then you do not need to pay more for a deluxe hotel stay.

The distances to and from the park can differ, so be sure to ask about the location of the hotel in relation to the park, as well as whether the hotel offers complimentary transportation, such as shuttle bus or monorail service. There are lots of choices and you can find many different package deals depending on your budget and preferences. The Internet has made it so easy to compare Disney area hotels (and their amenities) at a glance.

Saving on Meals

Disney does not allow you to bring food into the park. But you can save money by having breakfast before entering the park and eating dinner after you leave. Lunch prices tend to be quite a bit lower than dinner prices at the restaurants inside the park, so you can experience the magic of a meal in the Read more

DO NOT GO THERE – Places not to travel to, due to pollution, dangers, crime

Posted on July 23, 2009

Do not go there!

Polution, crime and long lines. A new guide book made by Peter Greenberg guides you away from the worst travel destinations on the earth.

Places you very well can avoid is listed up by Mr. Greenberg, and also lists up the airports you should avoid and at what times it is wise to visit sights around the world. A handy little guide, with some other perspective than other travel guides available to you.

Go there in the winter: According to Greenberg the lines at the Eiffeil tower in Paris is worst in the summer (big surprise?). He recommends of course to visit the sights in Paris in November and December months.

The internet is full of travel tips sites and guides that tells you were to go and what to see. An example of a travel guide is TripAdvisor

However, now there is a guide book available to you that tell you where you should not travel and make sure travelers stay away from these places.

The author calls his guide book; «Don't go there!» And is listing up places not to go to and should avoid and at times you should avoid some places.

Here you will find a good overview of travel destinations that at first glance looks exotic and exiting, but be aware that some of these places can have surprises you would like to stay away from.

The guide book lists up the worst airports in the world and common tourist traps in addition to cover topics like pollution, crime and the worst environmental sinners.

Stinking beaches and hazardous roads have also been covered by the investigative traveler.

Several cruise ships are mentioned as not having acceptable sanitary conditions, lack of food hygiene and falsification of discharge logs.

You will in addition to advices get anecdotes about places you should avoid visiting.

For example the increased pollution in Delhi in India is caused by the increasing care sales amongst the normal people since a Indian car like Nano is sold for around 2500 USD which more people can afford in today’s India. The paradox is that some of the new cars pollute more than the older models according to what is written in the book.

The air in Calcutta is so bad that the police has to carry oxygen tanks with them., so you would not like to go for a walk and sightseeing there, unless you are a heavy smoker and do not mind to get some extra chemicals down your throat.

New York is a splendid city to visit, but be aware that statistically there will be a hurricane in the Big Apple soon. According to the guide book from Greenberg, the geography tells that the east coast of U.S.A is vulnerable to hurricanes and big storms, and big storms come on a regular basis to these areas through the last 100 years. The last big event was back in 1938, so watch out now.

In Pattaya polluted sanitary water is dumped into the ocean from large apartment complexes. The authorities made a law that complexes larger than 60 units should clean up their waste water before dumping it into the ocean. However, the entrepreneurs just found out to save costs they build complexes with 59 units in them and can therefore continue to dump sewage into the beach waters.

In the U.S.A you can visit the garlic capital called Gilroy in California, which is Americas arm pit. Battle Mountain in Nevada and the largest hand made well in Greensburg in Kansas, or maybe not.

Cost Effective Rv Travel

Posted on July 22, 2008

Traveling with your family is a wonderful experience. It is the perfect time for bonding.  Although it may be hard to come by affordable family vacations nowadays because of the rise in prices of basic consumer goods and services, there are still cost effective ways of letting your family enjoy quality vacation time together.

One of the best and most popular ways of vacationing is traveling by RV (recreational vehicle). RVs are convenient and comfortable. You and your family can travel at your own pace while enjoying the luxury of having your own bed or sleeping quarters, your own kitchen, and a clean bathroom with a warm shower. And since RVs allow you to travel on your own schedule, you and your family can stay at a location for as long as you want!

Traveling with an RV is one of the best choices for affordable family vacations. Since RVs provide comfortable as well as convenient accommodations, you can avoid staying in overpriced hotels.  Plus, there is no hassle with check in/checkout times!

For first time RV users, renting an RV is highly advised before purchasing one. Normally, RV store owners will give tips to inexperienced users. Those who are accustomed to traveling in RVs are generally eager to purchase their own RV because they are familiar with the joys that family RV vacations can provide. Purchasing or renting an RV is definitely a long term option for those looking for affordable family vacations.

For those looking to enjoy a fun RV vacation, a little bit of research, whether it is online or asking friends or family, will open your eyes to a variety of affordable and fun vacation packages. These packages give you various options for your family vacations, especially if you have children of varying ages. Sometimes, choosing the right vacation package or option depends on the children: what will engross them, what will make them learn, what interests them.

Additionally, whether renting or owning, an RV gives you the freedom to explore the country like you have never been able to before.  You can spend as much or as little time at any location as you choose.  You are your own tour guide so you might want to make sure you have the most up-to-date map available and guys…don’t be afraid to ask for directions!  However, if you are seeing the country for the first time, there are some states that you just shouldn’t miss.

Discover the Everglades on a Trip to Florida

An interesting family vacation destination is Florida. There are several Florida RV parks that you and your family can enjoy. These Florida RV parks have activities and events lined up every month, so you and your family can schedule your trip according to coincide with the month that has the most interesting activities.  Plus, if you choose to extend your stay and are looking for additional space, some of these parks also offer various cabin choices, all furnished and e Read more
