Never trade your safety or cleanliness for a low budget. Staying in an unsafe area is one of the worst options to choose in order to save a few dollars. It is as much a crime to choose a room having bedbugs.

Avoid packing bulky bags to save on physical exertion. Otherwise, you may have to focus on securing your luggage rather than enjoying the trip. This would also prevent you from availing a cheaper transport option like a subway train or a bus as you cannot board them with multiple luggages. Moreover, bulky travellers may also have to pay a lot at the airport if their luggage limit exceeds the allowed threshold.

While choosing a travel agent, make sure that you do not consult based on friendship alone as you may miss out on some travel deals. In addition, independent travellers who by-pass their agents may not be able to enjoy some rare adventure opportunities or cruise trips which the experts can book at exciting prices.

You can also check the price to your destination in the nearby airports well in advance to save a few hundred dollars. If you can afford to take that extra effort and make your travel cheaper, it is a great way to cut your travel budget.

If you are planning to invest your money in a casino expecting great returns, be strict on how much cash you are going to allocate for this purpose and do not overshoot this budget at any cost because of your temptation to win more and more. You may end digging a big hole in your pocket!

Make sure you pay your credit card bills every month without fail on-time, and do not spend more than what you can allocate for the travel. You would end up paying big interest amount which may result in a huge waste.

While travelling to another country, have some emergency currency of the destination country in your pocket, but do big exchanges only at the destination country to save on exchange rates. Avoid foreign exchange transactions at the airport exchanges as it may not be best suited rates for you.

You can stop overnight at hotels, but a better option would be to look for alternative accommodation for saving expenses. Home stays are another great choice to save on the expensive luxurious resorts just for a night stay. You can stay as a family guest, enjoy a breakfast with them the next morning and pay a nominal fee for accommodating you. Otherwise, you can opt for a convent, hostel or a clean and hygienic dormitory. While backpacking or going on adventurous travels, it is great to try staying in tents and explore such unconventional experiences.

Flier miles can be utilized for long distance travel than short trips to avail best benefits. However, if your budget do not allow you to go in for a very luxurious travel, keep looking for best deals, beneficial online auctions and bargains to accommodate stringent budget during difficult financial periods.
